On April 1st Lyubomir Pozharliev was giving a lecture at The Balkan Circle at the University of Texas at Austin. There he was presenting his monography „The Road to Socialism. Transport Infrastructure in Socialist Bulgaria and Yugoslavia (1945–1989)“.

About the book

His work faces the interrelations of the construction of roads with building of socialist and trans-ethnic identities, uniting all federal republics. Pozharlievs book is standing out as the first comprehensive empirical study of transport infrastructure in two socialist countries in the years 1945–1989.

About the seminar

Every week the The Balkan Circle seminar is giving insights on social, political, historical, economical, and cultural phenomena in the (so-called) Balkans. They are showing a variety of formats like presentations, lectures, dialogues or exhibitions. The semiar is sponsored by the UT CREEES (Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies).

Fortunately, they are giving the international audience insights into their tiny second-floor conference room and live-stream their events, so that we don’t have to miss this lecture.

More information on the event can be found on The Balkan Circles‘ website. Furthermore, all recorded sessions can be viewed on the youtube channel of the UT CEEES.
